Accessibility at Dubai Times

Dubai Times is designed to work with a keyboard, touch input, reduced-motion preferences, and modern assistive technology. Accessibility is treated as part of the game design rather than a separate visual mode.

Keyboard controls

In word games, use A–Z to enter letters, Backspace to erase, and Enter to submit. In Sudoku, select a cell and press 1–9, use Backspace or Delete to erase, and press N to toggle notes.

Screen-reader information

Word tiles expose their row, column, letter, and result through accessible labels. The on-screen keyboards use real buttons. Sudoku cells announce row, column, and current value, while status changes are presented as ordinary readable text.

Motion and contrast

The interface respects the operating system’s reduced-motion preference, shortening reveal effects for people who prefer less animation. Dark and light themes use distinct clue colors, and confirmed-absent letters recede without becoming invisible.

Responsive layout

The daily word board is designed to fit within the available viewport without page scrolling. Touch targets remain large enough for phones, while desktop layouts stay intentionally compact.

If you encounter an accessibility barrier, please describe the device, browser, and affected control on the contact page.

Navigation and focus

The games menu is available in the upper-left corner and the profile control is at the upper right. A skip link bypasses navigation. Dialogs contain keyboard focus, support Escape to dismiss, and return focus to the opening control. Sudoku has one grid tab stop; use the arrow keys to move between cells. Browser zoom is enabled.
