When does the daily puzzle change?
At midnight according to your device’s local calendar. An open tab refreshes automatically and checks again when you return to it.
Do I need an account?
No. The games work without an account and save progress locally. An account is only needed to place completed results on public leaderboards and sync those results across devices.
Is my password readable by Dubai Times?
No. Passwords are transformed using PBKDF2 with a unique random salt. Only the resulting one-way hash is stored.
Why was a real word rejected?
No word list is exhaustive. The accepted list is intentionally broad, but specialist names, abbreviations, inflections, and extremely rare terms may still be absent.
Does gray always mean the letter is not in the answer?
Usually, but a gray duplicate may mean every copy in the answer was already matched elsewhere in the same guess.
Are the daily and unlimited rankings combined?
No. They are separate so unlimited practice cannot distort the daily competition.
Can I delete my account?
Yes. Open Account, sign in, choose Delete account, and confirm your password. This permanently removes the account, sessions, and leaderboard results.
What happens when I switch accounts?
Each player has a separate local board and pending uploads. Account statistics are calculated from saved server results and remain the same across sign-ins and devices. Signing out restores the guest board; signing in restores that player’s board on this browser. Creating a new account transfers your current guest boards and recorded guest-session results, including daily completion for unlimited access. Signing in to an existing account does not merge guest data. Results already transferred are not copied into a second account. Older guest aggregate totals without individual game records cannot be reconstructed. Daily result transfers use the same recent-date acceptance window as normal uploads. Older shared browser saves are retained as guest history; existing server leaderboard results are unaffected.
Does progress follow me to another device?
Account statistics, recorded leaderboard results and daily completion belong to your account, but the unfinished board remains on the browser where you played. Guest statistics stay local. Interrupted signed-in result uploads are queued locally and retried when you reconnect, within the server’s date acceptance window.
